I love to get on my bike and ride. If I have a week or just a couple of hours, I can not get enough wind, sun, noise, odors, and bugs. Utah offers many different possibilities of the steep mountain roads wind, the flat desert highways open to the beauty of the landscape Many of our national parks. The terrain is vast and varied, plentiful and highways.
The mountains of northern Utah are some of my favorite places to ride. The Wasatch mountain range stretches from north to south, covering almost all sections of northern and eastern Utah. Salt Lake City are many small canyon roads leading out of town and mountains. They allow you to mount the bottom of the valley 4500 feet above sea level to 9000 feet altitude, in as little as 30 miles. The roads wind and out of the valley and across the mountains in almost every direction.
Here I'll describe some of my favorite places to go out of Salt Lake City for a hike one day. Most of these hikes are fairly short trip for a good day. The journey in 2 passing through Bear Lake are stretching over the past 300 miles in one day rule I like to follow.
East Canyon
East Canyon Highway 65, and 66 is a nice little ride. For access to Highway 65, exit at Mountain Dell off I-80 about 10 miles east of Salt Lake City, the road then winds north and east about 50 miles up and over the top of the mountain range and descends down to Morgan Utah. Route 65 and climbs the mountain range following the ridge for a while then dropping down past East Canyon State Park and past the reservoir. Here you can take Highway 66 or 65 to I-84. Highway 66 led to Morgan, Utah. Morgan you can loop back to Salt Lake to the west to the east and down the canyon talks on I-80 or you can go westward into the canyon on I-84 Ogden, Utah and follow I-15 South in Salt Lake City.
Monte Cristo Road.
This was another great ride pleasant. This hike is longer and can be combined with two or three laps to go a full day of hiking. Monte Cristo Road is Highway 39 and begins at the east end of Utah Valley Huntsville. To get there, you have three options, from the south, take Route 167 of trappers loop, which is very near the top of the canyon is as described in the previous section, take Highway 39 to Ogden Canyon, or take Highway 162 north over the Ogden Canyon. Alongside the highway, 162, 39, and 167 can also be combined for a beautiful day shorter ride out of valleys and make some laps. Once you reach Highway 39, head east on Route Monte Cristo you are the ion for a feast. The climb is long and slow windy hard miles and miles. The road finally ends at UT Woodruff. Who is a tiny gas station is a city near the border of Utah and Wyoming. From here you can go south on Highway 16, in Evanston, WY, then south and west on I-80 to Salt Lake City. The journey longer and more picturesque is to go north on Highway 16 to Highway 30 West, then in the valley of Bear Lake. Once you get to Garden City a raspberry milkshake and a hamburger Big are a mandatory part of the trip. Garden City go west on Highway 89 in Logan Canyon. Once again it is a pleasant canyon wind, full of flowers, trees, wildlife and is the penalty for taking the time to visit all along. Back in Salt Lake either 1-15 or if you want to try the Highway 89 is a bit more relaxed north of Ogden.
Logan Canyon.
As I mentioned above Highway 89 from Logan to Bear Lake is a very pleasant walk. One of my absolute favorites, I probably driven this road a 1000 times or more, each brings a flood of memories, or sometimes I notice some new or a subtle change in the landscape or the road. To make a loop of this hike, when you arrive at Garden City, and after you've had the obligatory shake raspberry and Burger, head north, one in Ovid Idaho and then go left on Highway 36. This road runs west and south of the tailwind on the neck and down in Preston, Idaho. Of thence follow Highway 91 South back to Logan and you've managed two assists canyon and enjoyed a good breakfast to top it off.
It summarizes some Nice rides canyons running around Salt Lake City. This is certainly not all available routes, it is virtually all roads north of I-80 fun in the north Utah. For trips of more beautiful day in southern and central Utah stay tuned or visit my website for more information. As always, Ride SAFE

The Count of Monte Cristo
$17.98 Director Kevin Reynolds infuses Alexandre Dumas's classic tale of treachery and revenge with the same contemporary, kinetic energy he employed on Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, arguably to much better effect. Composer Ed Shearmur's moody, evocative score is a great asset in the effort. Largely eschewing the pomp and Wagnerian melodramatics of many similar costume dramas, the composer again evokes ... |
